The Parlor (Japanese: 居間 Living Room) is the first room that Luigi accesses in Luigi's Mansion.
The Parlor is the first room to feature Gold Ghosts, the most basic ghosts of the game. Purple Punchers and Blue Twirlers first appear in this room in the PAL Hidden Mansion.
Story[edit | edit source]
When Luigi first enters the mansion, he goes upstairs, where there are two doors that lead into the Parlor. The doors are locked. Luigi heads back downstairs, where he finds a Gold Ghost. The ghost drops the Key to the Parlor, heads upstairs, and goes through the two doors that lead into the Parlor. Luigi then gets the Key and uses it to unlock the doorway to the Parlor.
Luigi nervously enters the Parlor. A few seconds later, a Gold Ghost pops out in front of Luigi. He gets a big scare, yells, and then crawls backward on the ground while the Gold Ghost approaches him momentarily. Luigi gets rescued when a gust of wind sucks at the Gold Ghost; the wind is revealed to be coming from Professor E. Gadd using the Poltergust 3000. E. Gadd tries to capture the Gold Ghost with the Poltergust 3000 but fails to. The Gold Ghost then laughs and vanishes.
E. Gadd briefly introduces himself to Luigi and briefly explains the haunted mansion to him. Afterward, the same Gold Ghost, accompanied by two others, approach toward Luigi and E. Gadd. They both flee to E. Gadd's Lab, where E. Gadd trains Luigi to use the Poltergust 3000.
After his training, Luigi re-enters the mansion and heads back into the Parlor. When Luigi puts out the six purple-lit candles in the room, the paintings get upset at Luigi. After they complain at him, a Gold Ghost pops up behind Luigi. He fights the three Gold Ghosts individually, which means the the next Gold Ghost appears after the previous one is captured.
When Luigi vacuums all three into the Poltergust 3000, the Parlor's lights turn on, and a Blue Treasure Chest appears in the center of the room. The Key to the Anteroom is inside the chest.
